"YUCK FOU" Dan & Jere's new band

Who is Unkind?

Dan Englund - Guitar
Jim Hayes - Vocals
Jere Sweet - Bass
Mike Hahn - Drums

Dan Englund, Jim Hayes and Jere Sweet are former members of the Tacoma, Washington and internationally renowned, Re-Activate. Mike Hahn is the former Vocalist and Guitarist for Vendetta. In 1998, the four joined forces to form Unkind, a group of journeymen musicians who seek to introduce the new sounds of Power Groove Metal to the Rock world. Unkind members past billing line-ups include such national acts as Yngwie Malmsteen, Metal Church, D.R.I. and locals Second Coming, Forced Entry, Room XIII, Relic, and Suffergauge.

In a stroke of marketing genius (as quoted in the Tacoma Reporter) of one of their managers, Lenny Bonner, they had the opportunity to get the crowd ready to rumble for the Pacific Wrestling Federation's Bayside Brawl at the Temple Theater on November 17, 2000. This was the first time a Metal band opened for the Federation and Unkind believes that they have opened the doors for music and wrestling to team together and offer mixed forms of entertainment for each others audiences. With lots of pro experience Unkind dedicated themselves entirely to satisfy your every musical desire, with a relentless passion, no other Northwest band could surpass. Unkind was recently working on their next CD and hoped to sign with a label in the near future that would have financially allowed the group to support their creativity at a higher level.

Dan Englund is a metal musician from Tacoma Washington having played various instruments in various bands including: "Red Scepter" (drums), "Thrash Forward" (drums & vocals), "Psycho Bitch" (guitar, drums, bass & vocals), "Wharf Rats" (drums), "Shredder" (vocals), "K.D.M." (bass), "Dead Reign" (drums), "Re-Activate" (guitar & vocals) and "Unkind" (guitar).

Jim Hayes sang in school choirs in junior high and high school. In 1987, he played in Hollywood, California with Chaotic Exile for a year before joining Fault Line. In 1994, he joined Re-Activate with original Unkind members, Jere Sweet and Dan Englund. Finally, in 1998 the three of them decided to make some format changes and progress into the new sound of Unkind, with Mike Hahn. When he's not singing in the shower he works out at the gym, teaches aerobic kickboxing and karate where he recently earned a black belt at the martial arts institute of Steve Curran Academy. For fun he snowboards and golf's. Currently, he is attending in intense training program to be a professional personal trainer.

Jere Sweet, has strong professional influence on Unkind. He spent 4 years in the Navy, after graduating from High School. He's been playing in bands since he started playing guitar in a 70's cover band before he moved to Washington and played bass for No Avail for 3 years. After leaving No Avail, he played in numerous bands until he helped to form Re-Activate with original Unkind members, Jim Hayes and Dan Englund, in both of which he played bass. As one of the original members of Unkind, he directs most of the behind the scenes workings that add strength and professionalism to the band's performances. Now he is ready to further his professional music career in the venue of Unkind.

Mike Hahn started his musical career early in life as a child singing in the church choir. He learned to play the trumpet at 11 with, being from Detroit, Motown influence, along with Elvis and country. Modern rock inspired him to take private lessons and play the drums for his junior high and high school's symphonic, jazz, and stage bands. At 19, he started playing guitar, writing his own music and singing. He founded, wrote songs, sang and played rhythm guitar for Vendetta in clubs such as The Red Roof Pub, The Color Box, Off Ramp, Central Tavern, the Temple Theater and the Mothership. Through another local band, Mike heard that Unkind was auditioning drummers. When they heard him they knew that Unkind was complete.
